What you can plan

Everything a vegetable garden needs

Square-foot and row beds

Paint crops square by square, or plant in rows. Every plant is drawn at its real spacing, so the plant count is right.

231 vegetables, herbs and fruit

From tomatoes and peppers to lovage, sea buckthorn and fruit trees, each with spacing, sun, root depth and companions.

Crop rotation by year

Keep one garden per season. The planner compares every bed with last year and suggests what to plant next.

Watering and supports

Draw drip lines and hoses with their real length, add stakes, cages and trellises, and get a shopping list.

3D view, PDF and print

Walk around your garden in 3D, then print it or save it as a PDF with the full planting list.

Free, and it stays free

Planning, saving, printing, PDF export, the 3D view and every other feature cost nothing, and they stay free. Your gardens are saved to your free account, in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Dutch or Romanian, in cm or inches. Donations of appreciation are welcome.

A whole kitchen garden in the 3D view: raised and in-ground beds, a greenhouse, fruit trees, raspberries, trellises, drip lines, compost and a water barrel
Then walk through it in 3D: raised and in-ground beds, a greenhouse, fruit trees, berries, trellises and drip irrigation.

How it works

  1. Draw your plotSet the size of your land or start from a ready-made plan.
  2. Add beds and cropsDrag crops from the bar at the bottom. The planner warns about bad neighbours and tight spacing.
  3. Save, print, growSave the plan to your account, print it for the garden and copy it to next season.

Questions and answers

Is Vegetable Garden Planner really free?

Yes. Every function of the site is free (planning, saving, printing, PDF export, the 3D view, the plant guide and the sowing calendar) and it will stay free. Your gardens stay yours and are never sold. If you appreciate the planner, any donation is welcome and helps cover the costs of building and running the site.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It runs in the browser on computers, tablets and phones, and you can add it to your phone’s home screen.

How does it know how many plants fit?

Each crop has a recommended spacing. Square-foot beds use Square Foot Gardening counts, for example 16 carrots or 1 tomato per 30 cm square. Row beds use the in-row and between-row spacing.

Can I plan crop rotation?

Yes. Keep a plan for each year and copy it to the next season. Every bed is compared with last year’s crops and you get a suggestion for the next family.

Where are my gardens stored?

Without an account they stay in your browser. With a free account they are saved on this site and only you can see them.
